Choc rides his 1,000th career winner (994 National Hunt and 6 on the flat) aboard the Alan King trained Araldur in a Novices’ Hurdle at Towcester.

Choc rides his 16th Cheltenham Festival winner aboard the Alan King trained Bensalem in The Stewart Family Spinal Research Handicap Steeplechase.  Winner’s Prize £42,758.

Choc rides the Alan King trained Montbazon to victory in the DBS Spring Sales Bumper (Standard Open NH Flat Race) at Doncaster.  Winner’s Prize £34,585.

Choc rides Mille Chief to victory, by a nose, over Celestial Halo in the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton (Grade 2).  Winner’s Prize £39,907.

This was the second leg of a treble for Choc at Wincanton today, the other winners being Jetnova and Smad Place.

Choc rides Jetnova to win a National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle at Plumpton. Choc’s first winner since returning from a serious knee injury which kept him sidelined for a 5-month period.

Choc wins the Best Odds Guaranteed At Bet365 Mares’ Hurdle (Listed) (Class 1) at Wetherby aboard the Alan King trained Santia. Winner’s Prize £22,804.

Choc marries his fiancée, Meally Greenwood, at their local village church in Guiting Power, Gloucestershire.

 

 

2008 / 2009 SEASON

25 April 2009

Choc rides 119 winners during the 2008/2009 season, beating his previous best by 14.  This places him 3rd in the NH Jockeys Championship behind AP McCoy and Richard Johnson (the same position as last year).

Choc wins the Lester Award for National Hunt Ride of the Year – for his ride aboard Nenuphar Collonges at the Cheltenham Festival 2008.  He was voted for by the general public via the At The Races website.

Choc is presented with the Leading Jockey Award for riding 3 winners at the Aintree Festival 2009.  His winners were Walkon, Oh Crick and Voy Por Ustedes.

Choc records his 100th winner of the current campaign when riding Silk Hall to victory in a Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle at Stratford Upon Avon.  This was his second ever century, following 2007/2008 when he went on to ride 105 winners.
