It was bad, then good news in fandom land today
... Firstly the bad news, Richard Madden wasn’t
nominated for the TV BAFTA Leading Actor category for his role in Bodyguard
... and it transpires this isn’t because his interpretation of the role of DC
Budd wasn’t good enough. The admitted
reason was due to there being only four nominations in each category and the
jury decided that diversity was more important than talent – the nominees
being Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugh Grant, Chance Perdomo and Lucian Msamati. It’s a travesty. Keeley Hawes was nominated
twice, for Bodyguard in the Leading Actress and for Mrs Wilson in the Best
Supporting Actress categories.
Bodyguard also received a Best Drama Series nomination. So why is the red-headed, blue-eyed, Scotsman the
one who doesn’t get a nomination? It’s
disgusting. Poor Richard. However, at lunch-time, news came through that
Richard will be one of the actors starring in a new film called ‘1917’ to be filmed in England and
Scotland; production starts next Monday. J Be still my beating heart!!! Richard Madden, Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth to star in film Anyway back to my other, although now lesser,
hobby ... Here are yesterday’s results for my runners of
interest at Market Rasen: Second Time Around (Alan King/Wayne Hutchinson)
finished 3rd and Follow The Swallow (Graeme McPherson/Miss Lilly Pinchin) finished 5th in the Handicap Chase [2 miles 5
furlongs & 89 yards] (8 ran). Back On The Lash (Martin Keighley/Richard

did choose five winners – Beware the Bear in the Ultima,
Topofthegame in the RSA, Altior

counted; Lostintranslation with a 2nd in the JLT

Day 3: Frodon and
Bryony Frost win the Grade 1 Ryanair
Chase I have to confess that my resolve was seriously
wavering during this year’s Festival; it wasn’t helped by the damp start to
both Tuesday and Friday. But I attended on each of the four days, although
I left after the 5th race on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
and after the Gold Cup on Friday. This
meant that I arrived back at my hotel before dark, and arrived home at 19:05
on Friday, having not enjoyed driving in the dark towards the end of my journey! The 2020 Festival is definitely up for discussion
… I hope to attend on Gold Cup Day, plus either Day 1 or Day 2. It’s just getting so expensive, when one
includes hotel accommodation too. My Cheltenham Festival blog this year is going to
be very factual, as I wasn’t functioning at 100% due to being emotionally
distracted at the present time … which, ties in nicely to: Friday was Comic Relief Red Nose Day and here is
the link to the Bodyguard spoof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aKCpcQUDcg OMG … I love this GIF: |

having a ‘Mallen streak’ or in this instance a ‘Madden streak’ (known as poliosis), Richard’s combination of natural hair and eye
colour is very unusual – auburn with (beautiful) blue eyes. Redheads usually have brown, hazel or green
eyes! |
